The starting point
A solo criminal defense and personal injury practice in Los Angeles competing against firms with much larger marketing budgets — and against the directories (Justia, Avvo, FindLaw, Yelp) that occupy several slots on every legal search results page.
The realistic path to visibility wasn't outspending anyone. It was building pages measurably better than the firm pages that actually rank, and competing for the organic slots the directories leave open.
Research before writing
Before a word of copy was written, we analyzed the live search results for every target practice area: who ranks, how long their pages are, what their heading structures cover, which questions their FAQs answer, what they cite, and what they leave out.
That produced a per-page specification — target length, required sections, an FAQ bank drawn from real queries, and the content gaps competitors leave open. The gaps are where a smaller firm wins.
- One page per practice area, siloed into topically-distinct sub-pages — first-offense DUI and felony DUI are different searches with different intent
- Scannable penalty and cost tables where competitors offer only prose
- Citations to the statutes and regulatory sources competitors omit — dofollow, to the primary source
- Local content grounded in the actual courthouses and jurisdictions the firm works in
Built like software, not a brochure
The site runs on TanStack Start with React 19 and Vite — server-rendered pages that arrive fast and pass Google's Core Web Vitals, with every change shipped through Git-based preview deployments before it reaches production.
Content lives in an embedded Sanity Studio, so the firm can edit pages and publish new content without a developer — while a build-time snapshot committed to the repository keeps the site rendering even if the CMS is ever unreachable.
What the numbers say
Google's own PageSpeed Insights measures the site at or near perfect across all four Lighthouse categories — performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO — on both mobile and desktop. Those scores are shown live above; run the test yourself and check.
